O'Hana Meeting

Every Thursday night we have a corporate meeting in the O'Hana court.
Everyone on base attends - It is also open to the locals/community.
Tonight we had the privilege to have Danny Lehman as our speaker.

(I sat thru a meeting on Tuesday and he was the speaker there as well.
I highlighted in my notes that he must speak on the January school, and come to find out he's speaking on ours in a couple weeks!)

He is a man who began his relationship with Jesus in the '70's - He was just a surfer bum who happened to read the little booklet some Christian girl handed him.
Took him about two months to even crack it open, and now he's spent the past 40+ years teaching about Jesus.
Amen.

One thing I love so much about Danny is how absolutely genuine he is.
He isn't worried if he's saying the right lingo, following the rules or expectations of the crowd. He is free in his speech, passionate and has great insight!

I was having a very crappy day, "mad at the world" type of feeling, and I had no idea why!
I could not put my finger on it.. And then, God spoke thru Danny.
I absolutely wanted to skip the meeting tonight, however, just couldn't do it.
Praise God.

(Here are the notes I took with a few explanations here and there) .. :)

Revival: life of God being poured in to a dead situation

"Want to do our best to keep ourselves personally revived."

And then he talked about love.. The romantic story of him falling down a flight of stairs the first time he saw his (now) beautiful wife at church many years ago.
This story related to: "It is wonderful having a life with the Lord, like it is wonderful being in love with a person.

Isaiah 50:10
"Who among you fears the Lord
and obeys the word of his servant?
Let the one who walks in the dark,
who has no light,
trust in the name of the Lord
and rely on their God.
But now, all you who light fires
and provide yourselves with flaming torches,
go, walk in the light of your fires
and of the torches you have set ablaze.
This is what you shall receive from my hand:
You will lie down in torment."

-What is God saying in this passage...

A God fearing, obedient disciple, walking in the dark and not the light.
(What scripture is saying.)
When in the dark, we have the tendency to start freaking out and light fires and carry our own torches.
(When we are down, we have the tendency to try and do everything out of our own strength.)
Apparently, it's God Himself who takes you into the darkness.
(It's God who has control of us in this darkness; it is for a purpose.)

"God guides you thru darkness not to play around but because He loves you and He wants to teach us not to forget in the darkness what we learned in the light.."

-When you read Job, he was in the 'dark night of the soul'. But he hung on to his faith no matter what.

-It's all about faith.
-Trust.
-Learning to live in the light when you're in the darkness."

-Danny told us a simple analogy that I thought was legit.
He was running late to a meeting one day, ended up parking in a parking lot, walking across the parking lot, up a big 'ol flight of stairs, across a soccer field, thru another lot, and in to the building.
Once the meeting was over, he pretty well knew his way back.
He remembered going up a flight of stairs, however, there were no lights on his way back, so he didn't know where they were! He began walking at a slower pace, and feeling ahead with his feet for the first step. He knew 'about' where the steps would begin and he was aware to be looking for them!
He remembered what he'd learned in the light while in darkness.

-*Learn to rest in the dark.
Simmer down.

"God has not forsaken me, He loves me."

"When God wants to do something in your life and you can't handle the weight, faith is required; He makes you walk by faith and not by sight."

Read Psalm 22. David's cries are similar to that of Jesus dying on the cross.
I just loved the similarity.

"He loves us and wants us to grow in faith. Pray. Ask God to speak. Ask for discernment but if it's God that's got me here, I'm not going anywhere. So rest."

Resist counterfeits.

2 Cor 11:3-4
"But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For it someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit than the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough."

-We ask God to get us out of a jam instead of asking Why He has us there in the first place.
What's the lesson??

I loved this story as well - Problem with revivals is that when God moves, we only know Him as moving that one way.. We have tendency for God to move and we say "Ah ha! That's how you get the Holy Spirit..."
-God wants us to simply do what He's wanting us to do.
--You have heard of Jesus healing the blind man by putting mud over his eyes correct? Have you ever asked yourself How Jesus made the mud? Did he crouch down, spit on the dirt, mix it up a bit and put the mud over his eyes? Or did he pick up the dirt, spit in his hand, mix it up a bit and then put it over his eyes? Or did he throw dirt in the mans eyes, spit on him and he was healed?
There are different ways to make mud, and why did Jesus do it once? One thought is if he had done it more than once we'd have a 'spit in the eye denomination!'
The moral of the story is, people base much off of what is seen and don't allow room for anything different.

God wants honesty and integrity.

Rely on God.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by word of Lord - all comes back to what has God said to YOU - Also, if living in community, what has God said to US?

"(Temple of God) Veil was literally torn when Jesus died on the cross.
God was saying 'I want to get out of here and into their bodies and fill them with the spirit and My presence'!"

2 Cor 4:18
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

-----
((Worship at end))

"You found me where I was.
You picked me up.
You showed me your love.
Your love is enough.

Your loving kindness has yet to fail me.
Your loving kindness will never fail me."
